Top 5 Ruby Birthstone Jewellery Gifts for July Birthdays

If you’re a lot more organised than I am, you may currently be thinking of present buying for the July born loves in your life. Personally, I don’t think present buying is anywhere near exciting enough unless I’m frantically searching for the perfect gift to get delivered the very next day when it also needs to be handed over. But enough about me and my tardiness.

The best gifts are jewellery gifts. And I would die on this hill. And July’s birthstone is ruby – who wouldn’t want rubies as a present?! As a gen X’er the first ruby I noticed was the one in Fergie’s engagement ring – same style as Di’s sapphire but a flashy red instead of tasteful blue. Luckily, ruby jewellery comes in so many more styles than a cluster ring so here’s my roundup of my favourites on offer right now:

Tiffany Schlumberger Ruby & Diamond Ring

Another hill I’d die on: You know a present’s going to be good when it comes in a duck egg blue box. The Tiffany Schlumberger ring’s iconic and timeless and a fabulous way to sport rubies. There’s the small matter of having to part with £13,900 to pay for it but I’m sure she’s worth it. Or you’re worth it if you’re buying it for yourself!

Ruby Studs Bezel set in Sterling Silver

At £47 these are somewhat more affordable. For under £50 you’re getting genuine rubies bezel set in sterling silver with a halo of 14kt gold for that two tone versatility. At 5 mm in diameter, these are the earrings that your giftee will find themselves wearing again and again and again with a cost per wear that’ll end up in the pennies. Plus they’re handmade in Devon by the super talented Isla Silver, check out the rest of their gems –  Ansum!

Gemporia Ruby Bead Necklace with Sterling Silver

You get SO MUCH bang for your buck with Gemporia and they have some really interesting pieces, I definitely recommend bookmarking their site. Plain gemstone bead necklaces are super versatile, you get a pop of colour (bleurgh expression) and being adjustable from 16-18” this one’s the perfect choker length to wear every day. £89.99 This would also make a really nice bridesmaid gift if you have a wedding theme with red in it.

Love this! Buying vintage means you get unique pieces, usually cheaper than you’d pay for new and your environmental credentials go up a notch. This is elegant and edgy at the same time I reckon, a winning combination!

Sterling Silver Bezel Set Ruby CZ Tennis Bracelet

This is the proper, last minute, “oh shit, it’s tomorrow” option. You get red CZs instead of rubies in this option but they’re set in sterling silver.

If you have to choose between CZs in precious metals or real gemstones in plated metals. Go for the CZs every time. Fake stones last, plated metal tarnishes and can turn your skin green.

Also they’re bezel set which gives you a sleek style and means you don’t have prongs to catch onto things. £60, you get it next day if you have Prime and pretty much risk free as for Amazon the customer is always right.

So there you have it, a selection of Ruby jewellery to ponder. I always love to see cherished jewellery so please feel free to let me know what favourite Ruby pieces you enjoy wearing
